Is there any point in trying to get 100 stars on Mario Galaxy?

Just wondering if there was any reason to keep playing; I remember Super Mario 64 had some fun stuff if you actually got all of the stars. Anyone know?l

TBH I dont have a clue as well but I`m doing good atm with stars [img]/emoticons/tongue.gif[/img] need to play it some more.

I have around 36 right now....24 until I beat the game supposedly.

It's actually 120 stars you have to get. And yes there is a surprise but I will not spoil it for you. At 60 stars you can fight the last boss and credits will roll after you defeat him.
